Hi guys new to forum but used to demo d drum 2 at and 3 which were all great products.
I recently had a problem I would like to share with you and that is the hi hat pad producing double triggers and sometimes producing 32nd notes while I am only playing eighth notes -as in all problems you blame all sorts of things -threshold,sensitivity etc but the advice is to check the simplest and in this case the pad -on taking out the jack socket I noticed a small screw which is supposed to secure the socket to the bottom assembly was loose and touching the trigger plate and of course was dancing up and down as i played -remedy replace screw and add little bit of sealant to thread -result perfect job done . I hope this info may be of use  to someone else -cheers and bye for now

Now this is an old thread, but I recently started encounter a lot of double triggering on the Hi Hat which is really annoying. I don't wanna lower the sensitivity any more for obvious reasons.
It seems it triggers once on the stroke and once when it bounces back.
Any solutions? Change Hi Hat?

Okay this is really getting qorse. Any thoughts?

Remove the rubber cover and check the teeth underneath ... Not all know there is a disc with metal teethlike finish. Also check if the connectorunit is still firmly attached (3 screws) and finally calibrate and chck the tensio. Of the pedal. I'm almost free of it now.

Aah, I know about the teeth but hadn't thought of checking them! Thanks! :) I'll do that tomorrow.

Hi all,

This is my first post here. I recently bought a 2Box and am thrilled with it, except for the hi hat which is unusable when I want I'm playing the ride and keeping the beat with my left foot for instance.

What happens is I'm getting a lot of double/multiple triggering, resulting in uneven and undefined foot-chicks with a short open bow sound right before the closed pedal note.
Consequently, I also have a problem with foot splashes, which are also unusable in an open/close type of beat since the foot-chick is an issue.

Technically, when pressing down on the pedal the 2Box triggers a foot splash sound (zone 4) *without* the cymbal having to go way down and touch the sensor.
You can actually test this by bouncing the pedal every so lightly like a basket ball and having the cymbal hardly moving. That results in zone 4 triggering exclusively.

Now if I'm playing normally and go all the way down on the pedal and touch the sensor, zone 9 is triggered as it should to produce a foot-chick, but combined with the zone 4 triggerings.
Common combinations are: 494, 4944, 4494, 49 (soft touch, resulting in choked sound), 9444.

As a result, to go back to my example, if I'm playing a beat on the ride while keeping 8th note foot-chicks, it results in a horrible beat with uneven short hh opening slightly off the beat...

From a software point of view, I could reduce the problem by raising the Threshold (I had to go all the way up to -12, and then I finally had a clean foot chick), but then ghost notes on the hi hat aren't picked up anymore. I tried fiddling with the Gain to get the ghosts back, but then the problem starts again with the foot splash.
I couldn't find the right balance there, and always have to chose between the lesser of two evils, which really is making me enjoy playing a lot less...

From a hardware point of view, I made sure my 2Box' OS was updated, I changed the cable, changed the hi-hat stand (I'm using a Tama Iron Cobra since the original 2Box stand was creating open bow sounds when the cymbal reached the upmost position), I checked the "teeth" underneath the hi hat cymbal rubber, I checked all the screws, removed the felt under the sensor... to no avail.

Now the final question is: is there a way to change the way foot splashes are managed by the unit?
Other than that, I guess I'll have to start thinking my hi hat is faulty.

This is really making me rethink my whole purchase, and it's such a pain since the kit is awesome otherwise.

Can someone please help? Thanks so much if you can.

Nick, what you're describing is exactly what I'm experiencing. I've been chatting about it in a couple of forums including this one - http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?topic=973.180

I'm at a loss as to why some people don't seem to have the problem. In a way I'm glad you do as I thought I must be going nuts, have really bad technique or I'm doing something wrong.

I have a spare 2box hihat and have proved that it's not the cymbal as the behaviour is exactly the same with both cymbals. I've tried all the settings as you have but to no avail. Clean foot chicks means no ghost notes and ghost notes being heard means hopeless foot chick sound.

One thing I have done is tilted the hihat with the screw under the bottom felt. This seems to hold the cymbal more stable. I was getting triggering when the cymbal shaked as I hit it. This seems to reduce the amount of movement after the hit.

I think I have the same problem. Weird enough it was not experienced the first 6 months but after changing the hihat standard. I never managed to get back to the original settings without the issue. I tried a lot and even got a replacement hat from 2box which onfortunately had the same issue.

I also experienced a mistrigger when playing with the hats in closed position. I suspect that particular mistriggering to be caused by the flexible bow on the hat but again, even the new hat had the same issue.

In the end I replaced the hats by the Zildjian Gen16 14 inch hats which are so much more fun to play because they are real hats.

I really like the design and setup of the 2Box hat and did not find the 2Box hat unpleasant to play but the mistriggers spoil all the fun. And since I play most of the time on the 2Box I find myself loosing my hihat skills. That has been fully restored with the Gen16's. :)
