Got to admit I've only ever used the DD4 cast precision pads. But I was wondering, have you noticed the Input Sens.  pots on the brain? What do you have it set at for the particular input?

Simple is good, I agree. I got most of the board ideas from other forums, but it's obvious some of them are unnecessary. I'll have a look at it tonight

What about the idea to sell also a bigger cymbal so it looks like a ride instead of a crash?
I never saw that in E-drums but it seems such a simple solutions to me. Anybody else?

oops, well that's pretty embarrassing! Sorry for any inconvenience Alex. I should have looked closer (I assumed it was like the line-out after a quick check). PM me if you can't cancel it and I'll buy it off you through paypal or something, I can never have too many leads!

one way to do it would be to assign a clap sample to the snare's rim - that way you could keep your snare sound for syncopated beats and rimshot when you want both....or you could use midi to trigger a seperate sample from your PC (not ideal for on the road I guess)...If you can hang on for the editor when it comes out, you could use an audio package like audacity to mix in a clap (or whatever) with your snare sample and port it back over to the brain (you'd have to do it for each layer in the multisample and I must admit I don't know how / if that's going to work just yet).

I prefer the first option to be honest as it would give you more control I reckon.

One of the other forum members, nonoduweb, replaced his with a Roland double-mesh head and that fixed it...

Do you have an old dampening ring lying around you could try? I'll PM Scott to see if this has come up in discussion at 2box.
