I think the fact Louis has made it donation based to start with is fantastic, and it's starting to look really good - I think he'd be entirely justified if he wanted to start charging for it (as long as it obviously doesn't step on 2box's copyright etc).

Man cannot live on internet-based messages of thanks alone after all :-)

By the way Louis, would something like this work with your tool to create a standalone .exe?

I don't want to install Java on my DAW with its constant nagging and updates and background processes that you can never quite get rid of :)

Hey Deve Loper,

I think one of the main reasons people want to know, is in case they over-write a kit they like, accidentally.
Could you put the default .dkit file on the 2box.se website so people can easily go back to factory settings if things go wrong?

cheers
Tom

P.S. I'm sorry if the introduction was toooo long 'es tut mir leid'

Kein Problem p929, wilkommen :)
I think that by now, most kits on sale will be 2nd generation... as it is I made my decision to buy my kit mostly based on spending a few hours with the 1st generation kit ...(I literally misssed the boat on the first wave of kits anyway!). Also, because you can upgrade the brain firmware, the differences are minimal.

Please note this post is not sponsored by 2box in any way ;D

I just opened up the .dkit file in notepad, and it's not particularly user-friendly (I wouldn't bet on notepad not losing some important formatting of the file either)

I guess this is something for the wishlist eh - presumably for the Editor...

Aye, it's true, you're right.

QuoteHere at 2Box we scan the forums and websites just to see what is being said about DrumIt Five. There are a few things that have been said, that have made us smile. One great comment we have read is that the company is called 2Box because the kit comes in two boxes. Whilst the kit does come in two boxes, we looked into the future and saw that equipment coming in the future could come in one box or many boxes, so let us just assure you, that the name 2Box has nothing to do with how many boxes the kit comes in.

*deflates slightly*

I say "bye bye" wbrs, you're banned.

edit: to put it in context, wbrs has been given reasonable, then firm, then final warnings about disrespecting board members. The ban isn't about his opinions about the kit. Hope that's the last ban I have to hand out.

2box - yep - it comes in 2 boxes :)

As for the Drumit5 - my understaning is it's a kind of recognition that this is what the DDrum 5 could/should have been - without breaking any copyright laws, since Clavia went and sold the good DDrum name to Armadillo, who subsequently "threw out the baby with the bath water" and now produce acoustics for the most part.

Un petit peu d'histoire ici :)

Other e-drum systems / Roland getting the fear?
January 25, 2010, 01:11:36 PM
I think the ePro (think of it what you will) and 2box might be putting the wind up Roland...

That's one heck of a discount...

It's from a big UK retailer, not Roland themselves, and while it does state that it's based on existing limited stock, it does suggest that they want to clear some room in their warehouse if they're chopping £1200 quid off the suggested selling price...

I guess my point is, nice to see the big oaf getting some competition at last. I'll save my infamous fanboy opinions for another time ;D
